I have been using the OPPO F11 Pro as my daily driver for about a month now. The experience has generally been awesome and it’s one of those few mid-range devices that you can easily recommend to family and friends.

In case this is the first time you are encountering the OPPO F11 Pro, you should check out its technical profile, our first impressions, our camera review and our thoughts about the user experience aspect of the device.

That said, let’s get straight to a final thoughts about the OPPO F11 Pro. I’ll start off with the stuff that I liked about the device and after that add some things that OPPO needs to improve.

Camera Performance

The OPPO F11 Pro is positioned as the ultimate mid-range camera smartphone. OPPO did a fantastic job with the camera profile of the device. I say this in the context of the 48+5 MP back camera and the rising 16MP camera.

What I liked about the back camera is that it’s one of the few mid-range smartphones with an excellent portrait mode. The portrait mode of the smartphone is straight-forward, it’s just about switching into the mode, pointing and shooting.

The other exciting thing about the camera is the HDR mode. HDR is one of the least popular functions of smartphone cameras because most people aren’t really aware about the value the mode brings. The OPPO F11 Pro HDR mode is awesome and I particularly liked the cinematic effect the mode is able to give random photos of every-day subjects.

On the hardware part, the rising camera is pretty cool. My first week with the device was all about getting to see the mechanism in action. The mechanism of the rising camera is also durable. I had no quality issues whatsoever during the period I used the smartphone.

Battery Performance

I think the battery performance of the OPPO F11 Pro is one of the most underrated aspects of the smartphone. I hate it when I have to carry around a charger/power bank and with the OPPO F11 Pro I didn’t have to do this.

The F11 Pro easily lasted a day and had about 20% left for some late-night browsing before heading to sleep. If battery performance is a priority to you, the F11 Pro will then be the perfect partner.

The other noteworthy bit is VOOC fast charging. Fast charging works really well on the F11 Pro and I was able to get the smartphone from 0% to 40% in about 30 minutes.

Display/Design

The main reason why OPPO decided on the rising camera for the F11 Pro was to offer a notch-less display experience. It’s really awesome having a full display all to yourself. You get to enjoy all that screen real-estate when using apps as well as during gaming.

It makes you think on whether you’ll be able to revert back to notched displays after using the device.

The design is also impressive. The phone is quite a looker and you’ll get people enquiring about the smartphone. I have the purple variant that has this cool gradient back design that further adds a premium look and feel, something that is often elusive on mid-range smartphones.

Software

Impressive hardware is useless without equally impressive software, right?

The OPPO F11 Pro runs Android 9.0 out of the box and you have ColorOS v.6 on top of the OS. The software is pretty great. Lags and stutters are pretty much non-existent and you simply enjoy using the smartphone.

It will take a lot of text to fully describe all the OPPO F11 Pro features I adore. If you are interested in the software aspect of the smartphone, check out our user experience review of the device to get insights about what the F11 Pro has in store for you.

So, the above is what stood out for us. Now let’s talk about what OPPO needs to improve

Placement of the speakers

The OPPO F11 Pro speakers are placed at the lower parts of the device, just next to the charger. The placement is kind of a pain when gaming since your index finger blocks the speaker and you have to use a pair of earphones to get decent gameplay audio.

OPPO got creative with the rising selfie camera, so I think they should also get their creative juices flowing and figure out how to sort out the speaker placement issue.

Micro-USB Port

The OPPO F11 Pro is a modern device and it having a micro-USB port instead of the more refined type-c port feels off.

Type-C ports have the advantages of faster data transfer speeds and inserting it is pretty straight-forward as you don’t have to fiddle to ensure that you have the right side up.

In addition to that, Type-C ports are quickly going mainstream and it would have been great for OPPO to future-proof the F11 Pro.

Final Thoughts

The OPPO F11 Pro is generally a great device (8.5/10) and if you are in the market for a new smartphone don’t hesitate to give the smartphone a second look.
