Sony has been under the radar these last few years and even though the Japanese company is not a top-selling smartphone brand, they still make some solid phones.
Their sales may not look as great as they did in the past but unlike LG, who could soon end their smartphone division, Sony is still a fierce competitor when it comes to dispensing legendary premium phones.
One of the things Sony got right was, instead of competing in every smartphone market, in every price bracket like Samsung and Xiaomi, they selectively choose to deal in high-end mid-range smartphones and flagships.
Sony’s last decent flagship was the Xperia 1 II that was unveiled in February last year and it seems another one may be just around the corner. Sony has updated its YouTube channel banner confirming a new product announcement on the 14th of April.
The event will be live-streamed and although Sony hasn’t officially confirmed what they are releasing, rumors have it they will unveil the Sony Xperia 1 III and the Xperia 10 III.
We saw exclusive Sony Xperia 1 III images and specs leaked and if they are anything to go by, the phone could prove to be a formidable rival to the likes of the Galaxy S21 series and the iPhone 12 Pro models.

Some of the specs include a 6.5-inch 4K OLED Display with a 120Hz refresh rate coupled with 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. A standard Snapdragon 888 SoC chipset that is 5G enabled powers the phone alongside a 5000mAh battery. Now ,that’s a pretty deluxe technical profile if you ask me.
We still don’t know enough about the Xperia 10 III. However, the launch date is just days away so we should have enough information by then.
