LG Innotek, a subsidiary of the LG Corporation, will reportedly supply Samsung with displays for the popular Galaxy A range.
This is an interesting development considering that earlier on in the week it was reported that LG was officially out of the smartphone game after a couple of years of the business unit being on thin ice.
However, it’s still a concrete fact that LG makes some of the best LCDs on the market, especially when it comes to televisions. LG is the second-largest player in Global TV sales with a 16.3% market share and is the #1 OLED TV brand.
With LG’s exit from the smartphone market, it means that its display manufacturing subsidiary, LG Innotek, will now have an idle capacity that the brand can now use to supply other smartphone vendors with its stunning displays.

Samsung will be a key customer for the LG’s display business unit considering that the subsidiary will now manufacture a large chunk of the displays that will be fitted on the Galaxy A range of smartphones.
LG Innotek will the sole display unit supplier for the recently launched Samsung Galaxy A72. Market insights have shown that the Galaxy A series is arguably the most popular range from the Samsung smartphone portfolio.
With this new development, you can therefore expect to see more LG displays in upcoming smartphones.
