Safaricom has officially tamed third-party data bundle sellers by dropping the allowed Data Sambaza limit to just 10MB per transfer.
Third-party data bundle resellers where behind the popular ‘Bundle Mwitu’ movement that offered a slightly cheaper alternative to those who couldn’t afford the rather expensive Safaricom Data Bundle rates.
With the Data Bundle Sambaza limit now capped at just 10MB, it is now official that everyone would have to source their data bundles directly from Safaricom.
Safaricom has, however, offered an alternative to the droves of its users who relied solely on ‘Bundle Mwitu’. The company now offers a range of Off-Peak Data packages that offer a cheaper way to access the internet.
The off-peak data bundles come packaged as Daily, Weekly, and Monthly subscriptions. The breakdown of the Safaricom off-peak data bundle prices is as shown below.
The new data rates are fantastic but it’s rather unfortunate that they only apply if used between 10 PM and 6 AM.
‘Bundle Mwitu’ packages were favored MAINLY due to the fact they offered a cheaper alternative to access social media networks such as Facebook and Instagram. The bundles were also a fine choice for the millions of Kenyans on WhatsApp.
Social Media is only fun when users are actually online.
It is therefore, just delightful that you will be able to purchase an off-peak bundle and chat with everyone who will be online at 3 A.M.
