Safaricom released the M-pesa App in June 2021. The app comes with lots of utilities and goodies including a free 500MB data bundle with no expiry.
The M-pesa App was created by Safaricom to provide users with basic money transfer functions while complementing with additional services like coach and train fees payments, all in one place.
That said, here are the reasons why you should download the M-pesa App.
1. Simplistic money transfer
Contrary to the profoundly long step-by-step procedure on the SIM-toolkit application, the M-pesa app allows you to simply enter the number, funds to transfer, and voila! Money sent and received immediately.
Another cool feature is that you can send cash to many people at the same time with the ‘send to many’ option.

I think the newer biometrics and face-ID are much safer and take a shorter time to access the app. We also have some privacy features like balance image blurring and once you open the Home Screen, it won’t show you everything for the first few moments. A clever little quirk that keeps your data confidential.
5. Appealing User Interface
The App has such an incredibly extensive User Interface. It’s not complicated or crammed, but easy to understand with every icon placed at accessible positions.

In offline mode, you can still access basic transaction features like sending money, pay bill and buy goods.
Request Money
You also have the Request money from others option that alerts a debtor of the funds you are owed. If they don’t have the app, Safaricom will send a notification via the M-pesa app. It’s a useful tool, especially for small businesses.
Profile Picture
There’s also a profile picture option that lets people identify you and can be used for verification during transactions.
QR code
With the app, you get your own QR code that allows you to scan different Pay bills or Till Number merchants. What’s awesome about QR codes is you can generate your own code and the amount of money you are supposed to receive from senders.

Last but not least is free data. Once you have downloaded the App the first time, Safaricom awards you with a free 500MB data bundle.
