Infinix today announced its release of the World’s first future Light-painting leather. The cool feature works when UV light shines on the smartphone’s cover giving a different gradient of flexible color options suiting the user’s style and mood.
Apparently, Infinix molded photochromic polymers into the leather, where the molecular structure changes in the presence of UV light, consequently causing the color changes.
It’s also a reversible color change technology and only occurs when it’s exposed to UV light. Once you are back indoors, the cover reverts to its original color. So, you can try out as many different patterns as possible.
Infinix also claimed in a statement that the cover is built to last. There was a common issue of leather yellowing that was overcome by adjusting the leather structure.
Meaning the cover will remain intact even after extended use. Plus, there is a thin profile on the cover, providing grip and strong protection against knocks and drops.
It is a world-first and marks a new standard for leather back covers on smartphones. Although Infinix may be the first in leather covers, it certainly is not the only player in terms of color-changing smartphone backs.
Smartphone brands are looking for innovative ways to make their devices stand out, not only through performance but appearance as well. OPPO offers their exquisite Glow design as seen on devices like the OPPO A96.
Vivo also started recently with the V23 5G that sports Fluorite AG Glass showcasing UV light changing technology. We can only expect more brands from here on out. You can expect the Future Light Painting Leather back cover on future Infinix devices launching soon.
