MediaTek has officially announced the Helio G90 and G90T chipsets. The G90 and G90T are the first chipsets from the company’s recently unveiled G lineup of performance/gaming chipsets.
Wait, so what the heck is a chipset?
Here is a brief low-down.
The performance of a smartphone greatly relies on the chipsets that powers the device. A powerful chipset translates to awesome performance and vice versa. The mobile chipset scene is dominated by two major players Qualcomm (US-based) and MediaTek (Taiwanese).

The two chipsets pack an octa-core CPU and have support of up to 10GB of RAM. In addition to this, they include an intelligent network prediction feature that is able to shift between LTE and Wi-Fi connections. This is a feature that is similar to what OPPO recently unveiled.
It’s however, not probable that you will find the G series chipsets in upcoming flagship smartphone from vendors such as Samsung. The demand for the two chipsets will lean more towards budget brands such as Redmi, TECNO and Infinix.
