Renowned E-payment Fintech firm, Pesapal has now been accredited by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) as a payment solution provider. The firm has also received a service license in Tanzania.

The firm will now be able to offer digital e-commerce services in the regions as well as accelerating innovation in digital payments.

“We are excited about the regulatory approvals. This demonstrates our commitment and ambition to impact the online payments ecosystem. I believe this will enable the e-commerce businesses to grow and expand further in East Africa,” said Pesapal chief executive officer Mark Mwongela.

For clarity, Pesapal is a payment method that allows users to use their credit cards, banks, and mobile networks to settle bills from one portal. Almost the same as Paypal but a localized version of the platform.

Pesapal Tanzania Country manager stated,” We are investing in Tanzania to reshape the future of commerce. For merchants, digital payments mean reducing costs associated with handling and losing cash, and broadening their customer base as more and more people move away from cash.”

Pesapal is available in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Malawi, and Zimbabwe and is one of the best methods of payment, aside from Mpesa in the country.
