Huawei posted an impressive growth in its Q2 2019 market share. This is according to a recent market research report posted by Gartner, a market research firm.

The Shenzen-based technology company grew its market share by 15.8% in the second quarter of 2019. This is despite the numerous that the company faced that were brought about by the trade ban imposed on it by the US department of commerce.

The ban did affect the sale of Huawei smartphones in the global market, even though the sales picked up a bit after the US gave the company a reprieve. However, what’s interesting is that ban had the reverse effect in China.

The company enjoys a market leadership position in the expansive Chinese market and was able to achieve a 31% increase in the sales of its smartphone in the market.

Huawei had the ambitions of becoming the largest smartphone vendor on the earth and from the looks of it, it still has a shot of achieving that.

Samsung maintained its leadership position and grew its market share by 20.4% during the same period. This is an equally impressive performance which has been attributed to the strong demand of Galaxy A smartphones.

Overall, smartphone vendors sold a total of ~368 millions smartphones in Q2 2019.
