TECNO has finally launched the Camon 19 series in Kenya at an event that was held at the Emara Ole Sereni Hotel. The launch was an invite-only and was honored by notable celebs including Pascal Tokodi, Bridget Shighadi, Nick Mutuma, Joy Kendi, and Martin Githinji.

Camon 19 series Brand Ambassador Otile Brown also graced the occasion and performed some of his hit songs as the event came to a close.

The series brings some note-worthy design upgrades and extra-ordinary camera-centric features. The lineup consists of three variants with one member of the family, the Camon 19 Pro being the first-ever device in the world to sport a 64MP RGBW sensor.

TECNO also claims the smartphone has the “industry’s slimmest bezel” at just 0.98mm. As for the display, it’s a 6.8-inch Full HD+ panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. You also get a centered punch hole for the 32MP selfie camera.

The back of the Camon 19 Pro showcases a marvelous diamond coating design that mimicks 200 million crystals. The camera setup has three sensors, although it is fitted in a double ring that looks absolutely gorgeous.

Speaking of the cameras, the optics tech on the smartphone is pretty impressive. It’s the first 64MP ISOCELL GWB sensor with a red-green-blue-white color filter.

Most cameras use the traditional RGB sensor, but the Camon 19 Pro adds a white filter to get up to 30% more light for brighter photos, especially at night. The second ring houses a 50MP portrait shooter with a 2x zoom lens for capturing stunning images in portrait mode that are artificially blurred in the background.

Under the hood, the Camon 19 Pro packs the same G96 chipset as the Camon 18 Premier. However, its 5G variant is equipped with MediaTek’s Dimensity 810 SoC. The variant has similar specs as the non-5G model except for a 2MP macro sensor replacing the 2MP zoom lens.

While the vanilla Camon 19 comes with the Helio G85 chipset and some downgraded specs. It has a 64+2+2MP rear camera setup with a 16MP selfie camera. Plus, it packs 4/6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

The three are powered by a 5000mAh battery but support different charging speeds. The Pro and Pro 5G support 33W fast charging while the vanilla model features 18W fast charging.

The TECNO Camon 19 Pro goes for a suggested retail price of Ksh. 33,799 while the 5G variant starts at Ksh. 41,599 (Both 8GB+256GB). The vanilla Camon 19 (4GB+128GB), on the other hand, costs Ksh. 23,499.
