An updated Redmi Note 8 (2021) has been unveiled worldwide and should be hitting the Kenyan market soon. This new model is similar in design to its predecessor launched in 2019 with slight performance upgrades.

The 2019 version was a massive hit among users and a success for Xiaomi due to the splendid performance it offered and simultaneous affordability. In fact, it’s still being sold online and in local retail stores, meaning the Note 8 is still a great smartphone to have today.

So, it’s understandable why Xiaomi has decided to re-release an updated 2021 version. For this new model, expect the same 6.3-inch FHD+ dot notch display with 409 ppi screen resolution density and 500 nits brightness.

Also, in terms of optics, there are no significant changes. The model has retained the quad-camera setup (48MP+8MP+2MP+2MP) and the 13MP selfie camera.

Additionally, you still get the same 4GB RAM and 64/128GB storage options. The only difference with this 2021 version is that it comes with a better processor, the MediaTek Helio G85. The 2019 model came equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 665.

Overall, it’s just the same as its predecessor with a 4000mAh battery and rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, which is not bad news as the earlier one is still a favorite among consumers.
