TECNO ranked as the 6th most admired brand in Africa; it’s ranked higher than Gucci & Toyota

TECNO Camon X Pro

TECNO, a leading smartphone vendor, has been ranked as the 6th most admired brand in Africa. This is the fifth time that the brand has been featured in the Brand Africa 100: Africa’s Best Brands rankings report.

Brand Africa 100 is a ranking published by the How We Made it in Africa magazine, an Africa-centric magazine based out of Cape Town, South Africa.

The ranking is based on a study conducted by the magazine via GeoPoll. The study has correspondents across 28 countries in Africa and covered all economic zones on the continent. It was conducted between March and April 2021 and yielded over 80,000 brand mentions and 3,500 unique brands.

TECNO-ranking

TECNO as a brand has a unique origin story since it was the first Africa-first smartphone brand and primarily targeted emerging markets in Africa that had for long been ignored by global smartphone vendors.

In addition to that, its laser customer focus on offering the first dual-sim smartphone helped the brand to gain recognition among customers that are interested in being able to arbitrage between network providers.

The ranking of the brand higher than some very well-known global brands such as Gucci and Toyota makes sense in the context of the African context.

The ranking corroborates other studies that have ranked TECNO and its affiliates as among the most popular brands in Africa.
