In 2016, Google was rumored to be working on a smartphone which they later launched and called Pixel. Over the years, it’s been a pretty great device to have with features like HDR+ and Night Sight, which uses Artificial Intelligence.
Now Google, in a report, confirmed it has manufactured its first custom-built SoC (System on a Chip), called Tensor. The SoC will launch later this year and will power two of their upcoming devices, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.
The company hasn’t given too much detail on the chip but, its main goal was building a tech platform that would bring their most innovative AI and ML (Machine Learning) to Pixel users.

From the report, the Tensor chip will come with entirely new photography features as well as improve on existing ones.
Additionally, it will cater users to a highly personalized experience through UI (User Interface, in this case, Android 12’s Material You) alongside multiple layers of security facilitated by the new security core and the Titan M2.
As for the Pixel’s design, one noteworthy feature is the revamped camera system. Instead of the traditional square, Google redesigned the Pixel and gave the camera system a whole bar on the rear. It looks a bit odd, but it’s one of those designs that grows on you with time.
The Tensor custom-built chip, as well as the Pixel’s design, make the Pixel 6 an outstanding smartphone. Not to mention, Android 12’s Material You themes, it’s the complete package that we would not mind seeing locally.
