We’ve been hearing about the OPPO A16 since May, and now, it’s official. The device subject to numerous leaks was silently launched in the Indonesian market. It arrives as a successor to the OPPO A15.

The A16 comes with some notable improvements to its predecessor while other features were passed down the line. It’s built around a 6.52″ HD+ LCD with a notch for the 8MP selfie camera.

Around back, the device is equipped with the same triple camera setup as the A15, (13+2+2MP) with a slight change in design. It’s available in three color options; Pearl Blue, Space silver, and Crystal black. The smartphone flaunts a shiny metallic finish in all alternatives.

Under the hood, you get MediaTek’s Helio G35 SoC coupled with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. The OPPO A16 runs Android 11 out of the box and has a microSD card slot for expanding storage to your will.

Powering the whole package is a large capacity 5000mAh battery that draws power through a USB Type-C port. Another highlight worth noting is that it features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor embedded in the power button.

There’s been no word on its availability in other markets. However, tipsters claim it could launch as the OPPO A37 in other regions. The OPPO A16 is priced at $140 (Ksh.15,150).
