The TECNO Spark 9T is a budget Android smartphone that was announced in June 2022 and recently became available in Kenya. The Spark 9T is part of this year’s new Spark 9 series set to succeed the Spark 8 lineup released in late 2021.

Unlike its predecessor, the Spark 9T focuses on other technical dimensions including a higher resolution selfie camera while maintaining the series’ performance and display capabilities.

Today, we’ve managed to get our hands on one of the units and we’ll be doing an unboxing article to check out all its cool quirks and features. That said, here’s the unboxing and first impressions review of the TECNO Spark 9T.

Inside the box, you will find:

  • TECNO Spark 9T
  • 3-PIN AC Charger
  • Transparent Silicon Smartphone Cover
  • A pair of Earphones
  • USB Type-C Cable
  • Sim Ejector Tool

First Impressions

The first thing you’ll probably notice about the Spark 9T is its new refreshing design. Borrowing the dual-lens concept from the recently unveiled Camon 19, the Spark 9T along with its series variants looks utterly different from its predecessors.

It’s trendier, more fashionable, and steers the Spark series design blueprint in a whole new direction. Aside from the dual-lens, it also comes with flat-edged sides and a glossy rear cover that is dazzling to look at.

Additionally, customary to Spark devices, it sports the ‘STOP AT NOTHING’ logo that is a bit more minimized and compact compared to the one on the Spark 8.

Upfront, the display is quite worth noting. It’s 6.6-inches of an IPS LCD water-drop notch panel with 720p resolution. TECNO also equipped the Spark 9T with a 90Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling and faster response rates. It’s bright and vibrant, substantially clear indoors and outdoors.

Still, on the front, we should also highlight the selfie camera, which is the Spark 9T’s unique selling proposition. It’s fitted with a 32MP selfie camera that offers clear selfie images and videos. At the back, we have a 13MP main lens and a 2MP depth sensor for general photography.

Under the hood, the Spark 9T comes equipped with the Helio G37 chipset and 2GB of RAM expandable to 4GB with Memory Fusion for faster performance and a smoother user experience.

The TECNO Spark 9T is available for purchase at a suggested retail price of Ksh. 19,799 and makes a great purchase for someone shopping under the budget segment.
